Healthy Eating With The Jumbles™
This interactive CD is aimed at children aged between 3-5 years of age. It is divided into five sections of interactive learning opportunities, with each section covering all six of the Areas Of Learning For The Foundation Stage.
Ensuring a healthy start in life through a varied and balance diet is essential for the future health and development of our society. Diet and nutrition are fundamental in determining peoples risk of diseases. Attention to them can bring potentially enormous health benefits. Through Education and Health working in partnership we are able to deliver these key health messages in a fun way, that will give children the knowledge they need for a healthy future.
The following aims have been identified»
- To help children make healthy choices
- To raise awareness about their current and future health
- To develop positive early attitudes to diet and health
- To develop children´s early understanding of food and its relation to health
- To give clear and consistent health messages
- To recognise the importance of involving parents and carers as partners in early learning
- To promote a solid knowledge base of children´s knowledge and understanding of healthy eating
- To promote children´s ability to make healthy choices through their knowledge and understanding of food and nutrition
- To provide accurate and up to date knowledge on food and nutrition
- To raise practitioners confidence, competence and self esteem in order to provide opportunities for children to make healthy choices
Parent/teacher notes in the form of a booklet will be available to accompany the CD and will contain a broad and even spread of the curriculum areas in line with the QCA guidelines. The intended outcomes of each activity will identify the relevant area of learning and related aspects that can support it, as found in the QCA Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage.
